Our Story
The Beginning
Over a half a century ago Carl Gouge whom we called Pop, grew up farming with his family in North Carolina while his father taught him everything he knew. When he grew up he became a Master Pipe Fitter by trade while continuing his love for farming. After he finished his time in the Navy during WW2 Pop had a family, his daughter Tish also was taught about farming while he started planting christmas trees on the farms. Tish would ask Pop why christmas trees dad? He would say “these trees will bring joy and happiness to family’s during the holidays”.
The family wanted to plant pumpkins and vegetables so they used some of the land, at that time Pop decided that adding bees to the land would greatly benefit the pollination of the the crops yield so they tilled and planted the pumpkins and vegetables and the first 12 hives were started. The family continued to fall in love with bee keeping they decided to transform the Christmas tree farms into farms of crops that the bee’s would flourish from. After the passing of Carl, Tish and her husband Scott would start the brand ” Scott-Tish Bee Honey”.
In 2013 we founded the company Gouge farms LLC in memory of Pop. In 2021 Tish and Scott retired, and Gouge Farms will continue the brand of Scott-Tish Bee Honey and is proud to lead it into the 21st century by providing you the highest quality and healthiest products available for you and your family.
